just a girl in the world
A friend pointed me in the direction of Tangled because we both like animated things and it looked cool to her. So I was watching the trailer and going, hm, possibly amusing.
And then I thought, life is not monochrome. Why is everyone white? And why do the two main characters in any Disney animation -- in most animation -- always have the same skin color?
And then I thought, oh god, this is Disney, they're going to spoil the awesome humor with sappy romance, and I don't wanna watch sappy romance.
And then I thought, except if the main dude was a girl. They changed the story and made him a bandit instead of a prince, which I am all for, so why not make him a her? Because I'd go for a girl-girl romance if it wasn't too sappy.
And then I thought, is that a tree frog or a gecko?
And then I thought, you know, it's really going to suck if one of them is a long lost prince or princess. Unless it's the tree frog.
Which was when I realized family entertainment just wasn't for me anymore. I mean, it hasn't been for years, but I guess Tangled was my epiphany.
